Purple Fans

The crocheted bookmark can be found here: Crochetroo. And the tatted fan is a design by Mary McCarthy. I think it was originally published in Better Homes & Gardens magazine.

  1. Very pretty! I like how you did both tatting and crochet in the same thread and showed them together. :)

  2. These are so pretty. The bookmark looks like an edging I did years ago from a Magic Crochet book. I'll have to make a picture of it.

  3. I've tatted that fan too. I have the bookmark directions, had them for ages, but haven't managed to get around to making it. Maybe show it on a different color background? The purple seems to be blending right in with the black! Looks like they are pretty tho.

  5. Thanks everyone.

TattingChic, thanks. Actually, I made the crocheted fan first. I liked the color so much, I dug around for the tatted fan pattern and just had to show off both!

Tattycat, that's how I've seen it used, too. I also came across a picture of it made into a very pretty scarf.

Gina, you're right, it does blend in too much. I was trying to tone down the washed out effect my scanner gives everything. One good thing, the thread colors are true now! I'll have to try a different color of paper. But if you click on the pic, it stands out better.

Sherry, if you can learn to tat the way you do, then you can learn to crochet. Since you've had so much practice with thread already, learning with thread instead of starting with yarn and working your way down shouldn't be too much of an adjustment.
